New Year’s Hope: A Message to Inspire
Hi, Salaam,Namaste, Ni hau!
Good evening, and Happy New Year to everyone tuning in.
As we close the chapter in 2024 and step into an impactful 2025, I want to share a message of hope—that defines my life, and the mission I am on and honored to carrying forward.
I am living proof that no matter where you start, no matter the challenges that you face, better days are always ahead.
Forty-seven years ago, I was just a kid born in a war torn country. An RPG hit my room but thankfully I was not there. I am not sure how or why I am alive but my mission continues today, as I chase social impact.
As a refugee fleeing my country of birth, I arrived in New York City, the greatest city on Earth, with hope in the 1980s. A hope that was given to me by strangers who believed in humanity and possibility. I am thankful for the International Rescue Committee for providing support for me and my family.
Today, as a venture capitalist, an entrepreneur, and an individual who has been in search and chasing social impact around the world, I am committed to passing that hope forward.
You Are More Than a Number. You Are More Than Your Circumstance.
To the 120 million people, are the world, who are displaced, you are not just statistics. Every number has a story. Every person has a future waiting to be written.
Through our Future Innovators Program, we’re committed to supporting displaced individuals like myself who dream of better tomorrow in underrepresented communities around the world. Providing them tools, of mentorship, and opportunities to become the next leader in their efforts.
To every innovator, every dreamer, and every changemaker watching this:
Your story is not over. Your circumstances do not define you. And your dreams are worth pursuing.
As we step into this new year, let’s commit to being relentless in our pursuit of a better world.
Humanity deserves it.
Let’s act with purpose, unite with compassion, and deliver with determination.
I am proof that transformation is possible. I am proof that hope can change lives.
Let’s keep hope alive, let’s defy the odds. Together, we can build a world where every individual, regardless of their circumstance, has the chance to thrive.
