ARISE: Collaboration in technical education is no longer limited by physical location

XR for Remote Collaboration in Technical Education

Collaboration across borders is becoming an increasingly important part of technical education in Europe. As more learning, research, and professional environments operate digitally, students are also expected to develop the ability to work effectively within distributed teams and remote settings.

Extended Reality (XR) introduces new ways for learners to collaborate by creating shared immersive environments where interaction is not limited by physical distance. These environments can support communication, teamwork, and problem-solving in ways that reflect how many digital and technical roles operate today.

Within ARISE, this approach aligns with the broader goal of preparing learners for evolving digital contexts. Through exposure to immersive tools and Human–Computer Interaction methodologies, students explore how XR can support collaborative workflows and interaction across different locations and disciplines.

The growing role of remote collaboration is also changing expectations around technical education itself. In addition to subject-specific knowledge, learners increasingly need competencies related to communication, adaptability, and collaborative problem-solving in digital environments. XR technologies provide a way to explore these dynamics in practical, interactive settings.

This focus reflects the wider structure of ARISE, where immersive systems are explored not only as technical tools but also as environments that shape how people learn, interact, and work together.

Partners such as Evolutionary Archetypes Consulting SL and 28DIGITAL contribute to supporting educational approaches that connect advanced digital skills with real-world applications and evolving professional practices across Europe.
