Bio
Dr. Hua Tan is an Associate Professor at Washington State University with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, as well as a Master’s in Solid Mechanics and a Bachelor’s of Engineering Mechanics from Wuhan University of Technology. Previously, he worked as an R&D Engineer at Hewlett-Packart, as a Research Assistant at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and as a Lecturer at Wuhan University of Technology.
Hua has a proven record in the general areas of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for product development and optimizing processes.
Dr. Tan has a strong background in thermal-fluid science and structure mechanics and is an expert in professional software including ABAQUS, ANSYS(Mechanical), CFX, FLUENT, HyperWorks, ICEM CFD, FLOW3D, MoldFLOW, Ls-Dyna, Pro-E, Catia, and SolidWorks. He also has strong programming skills (FORTRAN 90/95, MATLAB, C, C++, OpenMP, MPI), is an expert in the development of large-scale finite element and finite difference codes, and in numerical modeling, polymer composites, porous media flow, plastic engineering, and free surface flow.
